The best-of-five IJHL Quarter-final series gets underway on Friday night in Montague when the Total Assets Fitness Maniacs host the Holland College Hurricanes at 8:00 to kick off the post-season.

Quarter-Finals:
The Maniacs and Hurricanes split their season series at three games each which suggests that we're in store for a close battle. Both teams picked up some key acquisitions mid-season which paid dividends in the latter part of the season. The Hurricanes went 9-8-1 after beginning the season with eight losses, and the Maniacs put together a 4-2-1 record in their final seven games of the season.

Holland College will most likely rely on Dylan McQuaid to handle most of the load in goal while Blake Ozon, Matt Patterson, John Livingston and Jonny Richards will handle the offensive duties. Eric Locke and Brandon Barrett will be relied on to play big minutes on defense.

Semi-Finals:
The winner of that series will face the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers, who captured their fourth consecutive regular season crown. The previous three were followed up with island championships, so they will once again be the team to beat in the post-season. The goaltending tandem of Grant Grady and Logan Reid had a combined GAA of a stingy 2.71 with three shutouts, which blew away the competition this regular season and is a big reason why the team is on top.

In the other semi-final, the third-seeded Arsenault's Fish Mart Red Wings will meet the fourth-seeded Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons. The teams split their season series 3-3 and will likely have a long series. The Red Wings are entering the post-season with lots of momentum after having won six of their last seven games, while the Falcons are heading in the opposite direction with only one win in their last nine games.

The Red Wings will be led by league top scorer, Jeremy Balderston and captain TJ Campbell, as well as former Viper John Ryan Francis.  The defence will be anchored by veteran, Ben Johnson and Matt Kelly.  Chris Gallant will see most of the goaltending duties. Rookies Brett Adams and Tayler smith will be expected to continue there solid play, and the Red Wings have also welcomed the addition of their newest player, Daniel Muise, of Alberton.

The leadings scorers from these two teams were the top two in the league this year, with Balderston taking the scoring title (57 points) and Craig Dougan of the Falcons getting second with 51 points. They will be a key matchup in this series.

The schedule for the best-of-seven semi-finals will come available as the first round progresses.
