Game 2 of the IJHL Championship Series between the Montague Maniacs and Kensington Vipers was halted this past Wednesday night due to a very unfortunate incident in Montague at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre.  During the second period of play one of the game officials, Aaron Coffin, left the game citing health concerns.   EMS were called to the venue and Mr. Coffin was transported to the Montague Hospital.  Sad news would come a short time later that Coffin passed away.

As a result of this tragedy the series was put on hold.  The series will resume and game two will be played in its entirety again on Saturday night in Montague at 7:00 pm.  The game was postponed with approximately six minutes left to play in the second period.  The game score of 3-2 for the Kensington Vipers will remain intact to start the game.

The Montague Maniacs have announced that there will be no admission charged for the game on Saturday night as admission was collected for the initial game on Wednesday night.  In lieu of admission, the team will be collecting donations in memory of Aaron Coffin and funds will be donated to his family.

The IJHL has also confirmed that Game 3 will be played in Kensington on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm.
